THE INSTITUTE
The Institute of Advanced Family Studies was established in 2004 at the International University of Catalonia with the start-up support from Joaquin Molins Figueras’ Foundation.
This Institute is the first in Spain, at a Advanced education level, which the main objective of its activity is Family Policy.
Family policy is a main object of study in Europe, and its countries have many prestigious organizations and research institutes in this field, that have an important influence on the definition and settings of policies related to families at local, national or international level.
The Institute of Advanced Family Studies meets the need claimed by social agents (public administrations, syndicates, firms, associations and NGOs) who find in the activity of the Institute a rigorous collaboration, a scientific and interdisciplinary support for the establishment of policies having an influence on families.
The Institute is also the first Family Institute that includes on a Advanced level, the activity carried out by an organization for parenting education – FERT – with more than 30 years of experience in Family Enrichment Programs working directly with thousands of families during tens of years.
The relationship with FERT brings another important task to the Institute: family related with the education of children.
Research, teaching, dissemination, on-line work, advising and collaboration with public and private entities are basically the Institute’s daily work.

The Institute of Advanced Family Studies is the first institute of graduated studies in Spain which has as main target the family policy development. To the birth and development of family policy IESF offers a scientific and interdisciplinary base on family issues to suit the needs of public administration offices (public administration, syndicates, firms and associations). Research, education, spreading of information, on-line work, international vocation, advising and collaboration with public and private organizations are the everyday job of IESF.
